Extortion 17 Memorial Run/Ruck

The Story

On August 6th 2011, a United States CH-47 Chinook military helicopter operating with the call sign EXTORTION 17 was shot down, marking the most devastating day in Naval Special Warfare history and the single largest loss of life for U.S. forces since the war in Afghanistan began in October 2001. The US military lost 31 warriors that day.

Joggin’ for Frogmen was created to honor these heroes and all those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. What began as a single 3.1 mile race in San Diego has expanded to a worldwide event hosting thousands of participants with a mission to to activate communities from around the world to honor the sacrifices of our service members and veterans, and to support the families of our fallen heroes. These races bring communities together to celebrate the lives of America’s fallen and to express our deep gratitude to those still serving.

Join us the weekend of August 6, 2024 and walk, run or ruck to remember.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

1. REGISTER AS A VIRTUAL RACER TO WALK/RUN/RUCK 3.1 MILES IN HONOR OF THE 31 WARRIORS LOST

2. REGISTER AS A VIRTUAL RACER TO RUN/RUCK 31 MILES (can be done through the month of August)

3. SET UP A SHADOW RUN IN YOUR LOCAL AREA

Register by midnight on July 19th to guarantee your swag arrives by race day!

2024 Fundraising Team

1. Register for the EXTORTION 17 Memorial Run/Ruck race.
2. Click YES during your race registration and your fundraising page will automatically be created for you!
3. Get cool stuff by raising funds for the Travis Manion Foundation.
4. Win Prizes
– Top individual fundraiser gets a prize at the end of 2024!

OR if you would like to FUNDRAISE but not participate in the race…

1. Run (or do anything you want, like a bake sale or silent auction!) anywhere in the world to support Travis Manion Foundation.

All Participants will receive

3.1 Mile Walk/Run/Ruck: All virtual participants will receive a custom shirt that will be mailed to your address on record.

CHALLENGE YOURSELF: Register to walk, run or ruck 31 miles. This can be done all on one day or over the month of August. Participants will receive the same custom JFF shirt.

There will be no awards for the 2024 EXTORTION 17 Memorial Virtual Race.

GORUCK Participants: GORUCK virtual participants will receive a shirt and a custom JFF patch. Find more information on rucking here.

Inspired by US Navy SEALs (Frogmen), the mission of the Joggin’ for Frogmen Race Series is to activate communities from around the world to honor the sacrifices of our Naval Special Warfare service members and veterans, and to support the families of our fallen heroes.
